Pakistan's former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq thinks Faheem Ashraf should be preferred over Mohammad Wasim Jr for the upcoming ICC World Cup in India.
ICC World Cup in India is just around the corner and Pakistan team started their preparations for the mega event late last month. The green shirts won the five-match home ODI series 4-0 against New Zealand.
A lot of questions are there regarding the combination of the national team for the multi-nation tournament.
Meanwhile, Razzaq came up with his suggestion for selecting all-rounder for the event.
"If we judge experience-wise, then Faheem Ashraf should go for World Cup," said the cricketer-turned-analyst on a Tv show.
"If we talk about Mohammad Wasim Jnr, we brought him from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. I think he was selected for the Pakistan team too early,
"Wasim Jnr should have played more domestic cricket and bowled longer spells over there before getting selected. Now, he plays few matches for Pakistan and then sits out in the rest of the matches. You can never groom a player like that," he added.
Pakistan's participation in World Cup is in doubts
After India refused to travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup this year, Pakistan might not go there to play World Cup in October-November.
The Asia Cup deadlock continues between the two neighbouring countries as India force Asian Cricket Council (ACC) member boards on shifting the Asian event from Pakistan due to political differences.
PCB, on the other hand, has offered a hybrid model that too with two options. In first option, India will play their matches at a neutral venue whereas all other matches will be played in Pakistan. In another option, four matches of the group stage in the first phase will take place in Pakistan whereas second phase, in which matches of Indian team followed by the next stage matches including the final, will be played at a neutral venue.
